Purchasing / Inventory Specialist

We have an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and self-motivated Purchasing & Inventory Specialist. Our company is a small, friendly and quickly growing high-tech manufacturer with an extensive, internationally sourced, inventory.
Job overview:
The ideal candidate will not only be responsible for the procurement of materials at optimum price-performance levels, he/she will also manage the procurement department as a vital profit center within the company. This is a full time position.
Specific responsibilities:
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies that lead to significant cost savings
- Source high-quality materials/products at the lowest price possible
- Negotiate purchasing agreements with vendors and service providers that yield the maximum return on investment
- Produce measurable results both in lowered cost-to-produce and decreased failure rates in purchased products
- Manage procurement activities related to the purchasing of products and services for the production of our proprietary products
- Take ownership of the procurement process and design process enhancements as necessary
- Create purchase orders and schedule production runs
- Responsible for vendor management activities including identifying and evaluating potential vendors
- Nurture relationships with various vendors and service providers
- Tracking RMA status
- Upkeep of logs and schedules
- Weekly reporting
- Provide backup support in inventory management
- Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate is a:
Detail-oriented person who enjoys overcoming challenges and being responsible for a deadline-driven process. The candidate should be flexible in approach as well as team spirited and comfortable in a start-up environment.
Qualifications:
- Excellent negotiation and people persuasion skills
- High degree of thrift awareness and cost sensitivity
- Purchasing / Inventory experience
- Well organized and technically minded
- Good interpersonal and communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with vendors and suppliers
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities
Significant pluses:
- Experience handling electronic parts
- Vendor management experience
- Database experience (MS Access)
- Familiarity with start-up environment
- Familiarity with Peachtree accounting
- Foreign Languages
