VSS' Protector Series of products allows inline tools to inject packets, where aggregated traffic from more than one network is being delivered to the tool, back into the desired network link and direction. This is accomplished through the Tool MAC Address field, where users can insert the appropriate information (using an even number). Thus, inline tools can now inject TCP connection resets, HTTP web page 404 errors, etc., when situations occur, whether it is a single inline tool, multiple instances if an inline tool, or several different inline tools.
