One of the challenges with monitoring networks is how to mitigate network access blind spots, security threats, and network performance degradation resulting from unplanned changes in network conditions.
VSS' Policy-based Triggering is a break-through technology for Network Intelligence Optimization Systems, which allows users to define what conditions or events are of concern and what actions to take when they occur. This includes switching over to back-up tools, re-distributing load, cutting over to a standby monitoring network, and Syslog and SNMP alert notifications.
Policy-based Triggering is a standard feature on all VSS Distributed Series, Protector Series, and Finder Series models. This means that it is supported for all 10/100/1000, 1G, and 10G network environments, and for both in-band (active) and out-of-band (passive) tools.
Unplanned changes in any Network Intelligence Optimization System that our Trigger Policies address include:
- Analytics, security, or WAN acceleration tool outage
- A VSS chassis outage
- Any remote vNode down
- Any system link down
- Any system link up
- Excessive bandwidth throughput utilization
- Excessive VSS chassis internal temperature
- Either power supply out of spec
