Dealing with Technology

BURLINGAME, CALIF.-Latency monitoring and technology provider VSS Monitoring has added a microburst detection feature, dubbed vCapacity, to its VSS Distributed Taps network traffic capture platform line.
"The new feature is about being able to identify microbursts, which is a major issue we see today," says Matthew Percival, U.K. and Nordic sales director for VSS Monitoring. "Being able to measure microbursts can be very challenging with the technology available today," he adds.
The new capability, available May 4, identifies bandwidth consumption issues in latency-sensitive environments.
"If I'm a trader and I can't trade because microbursts are clogging up the network bandwidth, I'm in trouble," says Percival. "It is important for exchanges to have capacity assurance."
